WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Four members of the Wellesley College tennis team will head to the 2016 ITA Regional Championships, Presented By Oracle, this weekend, September 23-25, 2016 at MIT in Cambridge, Mass.

Wellesley senior Carina Chen (Hong Kong), sophomore Justine Huang (Coto de Caza, Calif.) and first year Sarah Yan (Holmdel, N.J.) will all compete in the singles draw for the Blue. Singles play will open Friday, with Chen facing Helen Klass-Warch of Wesleyan, Huang matched up with Sonya Das of MIT, and Yan ready to take on Haley Cohen of Brandeis.

Last year, Huang won a pair of matches to advance to the round of 16, while Chen earned a big win over seeded Yagmur Akgul (Istanbul, Turkey) of Babson in the backdraw. This will be Yan's first appearance in the national event, however, the first year is currently unbeaten this season.

In addition, Chen and Huang and Yan and partner Andjela Stojkovic (Victoria, British Columbia) will take part in the doubles draw. Chen and Huang open against Amherst's Vicky Ip and Anya Ivenitsky, while Yan and Stojkovic will play Alexandra Fields and Skylar Schossberger of Middlebury. Huang and junior Emily Olson (La Jolla, Calif.) lost in the first round of last year's tournament at Middlebury. Stojkovic also competed in doubles in 2015, but she and partner Tristan Lorich (New York, N.Y.) also failed to advance out of the first round.

Play at the the 2016 ITA Regional Championships Presented By Oracle will begin at 9:00 AM on Friday with the Singles Round of 64.
