Peng, Chang Named ITA Scholar-Athletes, Tennis Earns All-Academic Team Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced the 2020 Division III ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams. Led by ITA Scholar-Athletes Selina Peng '20 (Taichung, Taiwan) and Libby Chang (San Marino, Calif.), the Wellesley College tennis program earned ITA All-Academic Team honors for the 2020 season. 

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year. In addition to the ITA award, Peng and Chang also earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference honors this spring

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), for the current academic year. In 2020, 1058 Division III Women student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 175 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.

Peng and Chang helped the Blue to a 2-3 overall record during a tough opening portion of the spring schedule. Wellesley defeated RPI on March 1 and No. 20 Brandeis on March 8, helping the Blue debut in the ITA Division III Rankings at No. 38 prior to the cancellation of the 2020 season.

Originally founded in 1956 by the legendary UCLA men's tennis coach, J. D. Morgan, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) is the governing body of college tennis, overseeing men's and women's varsity tennis at all levels – NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and Junior/Community College.
