Peng, Chang Named ITA Scholar-Athletes, Tennis Earns All-Academic Team Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has announced the 2020 Division III ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams. Led by ITA Scholar-Athletes Selina Peng '20 (Taichung, Taiwan) and Libby Chang (San Marino, Calif.), the Wellesley College tennis program earned ITA All-Academic Team honors for the 2020 season. 

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, student-athletes must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year. In addition to the ITA award, Peng and Chang also earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Academic All-Conference honors this spring. 

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), for the current academic year. In 2020, 1058 Division III Women student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 175 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.

Peng and Chang helped the Blue to a 2-3 overall record during a tough opening portion of the spring schedule. Wellesley defeated RPI on March 1 and No. 20 Brandeis on March 8, helping the Blue debut in the ITA Division III Rankings at No. 38 prior to the cancellation of the 2020 season.
