Tennis Opens the Season at The Morehouse Invitational on Saturday

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Wellesley College tennis opened the fall season at the 2021 Morehouse Invitational in both singles and doubles matches. With Friday's events being postponed due to inclement weather, doubles consisted of four matches featuring eight different Blue athletes and 19 singles matches for the Blue.

Doubles

The team of Ashleigh Parlman (Acton, Mass.) and Annissa Mu (Saratoga, Calif.) brought home the first victory for the Blue in a 8-4 final. The Wellesley squad took down Grace Truong (Burke, Va.) and Lily Feldman (Bettendorf, Iowa) of Skidmore College. The second doubles win came from Cinji Lee (Seoul, South Korea) and Libby Chang (San Marino, Calif.) in a 8-4 win over Kavina Amin (Roslyn Heights, N.Y.) and Caitlin Neal (Tampa, Fla.) of Middlebury College.

Singles

Sophomore Annissa Mu recorded the only singles victory for Wellesley in a 6-0, 6-4 rout over Amin for Middlebury. Fellow sophomore Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) battled against Claudia Miller (Sullivan's Island, S.C.) in a 6-1, 6-3 final. Cristiana DeAgazio (Winchester, Mass.) took her match to a third set, but eventually fell 2-6, 6-3, 2-10 to Neal. The second match sent into a third set came from Parlman, who dropped the first set 6-4 but fought back and took the second 6-4. The final set was won by Erica Ekstrand (Santa Monica, Calif.) of Williams College. After Libby Change won her first set 6-0, she fell back and dropped set two to Caitlin Neal. The third and final set was taken 10-5 by Neal. Overall, the Blue won just one singles set and two doubles set on Saturday.
