Wellesley Track and Field Races at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. -- The Wellesley College track and field team competed at the Dartmouth Classic on Saturday, racing against competition from Division I, II, and III schools.

Wellesley athletes recorded 10 top-10 finishes at the event, led by top-five finishes from first-year
Isabella Narvaez, sophomore Alessandra Gavin, and the 4x200 meter relay team. 

Narvaez was third overall in the 400-meter run, finishing in a time of 1:00.20, while Gavin was fifth overall in the 3,000-meter event, running a time of 11:03.29. The 4x200 meter relay team of Narvaez, junior Kathleen Hanlon, senior Sheena Dupuy, and junior Kendra Waters, finished third overall, combining for a time of 1:51.32. 

In the 3,000-meter race, Gavin led a pack of six top-13 finishers for the Blue. She was followed by first-year Edie Sharon
 who placed sixth (11:10.17), first-year Alice Zhou who was seventh (11:11.25), senior Doris Berman in eighth (11:14.10), sophomore Carolyn Chelius in ninth (11:15.50), and sophomore Heather Smith in 13th (11:25.59). 

The Blue also had a pair of top finishes in the mile, as first-year
Mary Keenan ranked 10th in 5:18.00 and sophomore Priyanka Fouda was right on her tail in 11th with a 5:18.05. Junior Nicole Chui finished 17th in the mile, running a 5:29.44.

First-year
Emma Scalisi earned a top-10 finish for Wellesley, taking eighth place in the triple jump. Her best leap was a 10.13m attempt. Rounding out the top-10 finishes for the Blue was the 4x400-meter relay team of Fouda, Keena, first-year Kathryn Leahy and senior Skye Roberts, who placed 10th in 4:31.54. 

Also for Wellesley, Hanlon 
took 12th overall in the 400-meter run, clocking in at 1:03.71. Waters was 16th in the same event, finishing in 1:04.63. Dupuy and Scalisi each came in the top 18 in the long jump, with Dupuy ranking 14th and Scalisi finishing 18th. 

Wrapping up the meet highlights for the Blue, were a pair of top-20 performances in the 1,000-meter run. Leahy finished in 3:22.41 to place 17th overall, while senior Jane Lodwick was 19th in 3:26.00. 

Wellesley track and field returns to action on February 7th, competing at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University.
