Chui takes Mile title at MIT; Kelly and Gavin Qualify for Post-Season Meets

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wellesley track and field followed up a strong outing at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Friday with a solid performance at the Gordon Kelly Invitational at MIT on Saturday.

Leading the way for the Blue were Meg Kelly and Alessandra Gavin who finished 3rd and 6th, respectively, in the 3000m, with times of 10:45.71 and 10:49.66. Kelly and Gavin both qualified for the New England D-III Championships and ECACs.

Wellesley's middle-distance runners also performed well in the mile, with Nicole Chui grabbing first-place with a personal record of 5:28.24. Carolyn Chelius snagged 6th (5:36.06), Skye Roberts finished 8th (5:37.96), Edie Sharon took 11th (5:39.66) and Sarah Roundy finished 12th (5:48.02), all personal bests.

On the infield, Sheena Dupuy had another solid day in the sand, taking 11th in the long jump at 4.57m (15'0"). Throwers Susannah Perkins and Zoe Sobel set personal marks in the shot put with tosses of 9.13m (29'11.5") and 8.36m (27'5.25") in the shot. 

Kathleen Hanlon rounded out the scoring for the Blue with a 9th place finish in the 200m, with a 28.03.

Wellesley track and field returns to action next Saturday, February 15th, with the Cupid Invitational at Tufts University.
