Blue Track & Field Wraps Up Competition at BU's Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- Sophomore Isabella Narvaez ran a 58.40 in the 400 meter dash, breaking her own school record at Friday's David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center. 

Narvaez's time helped her place 46th overall in a field comprised of institutions for across NCAA Divisions I, II and III. However, Narvaez finished with the third fastest time of any Division III runner in the event, delivering an ECAC qualifying time in the process. 

Senior Kathleen Hanlon also represented the Blue at BU, running a time of 27.65 in the 200 meter dash. Meanwhile, junior Caitlin Bailey recorded a time of 1:23.80 in the 500 meter dash. 

Sharon Ng had a huge run in the 1000 meter, clocking in at 2:58.78, good for third all-time in Wellesley school history.

Ng, Hanlon, Narvaez and first year Allison Kiley then teamed up to break another school record in the 4x400 meter relay. The Blue quartet clocked in at 4:05.24 to set the new all-time mark. 

Junior Priyanka Fouda delivered the Blue's next ECAC qualifying mark in the 1 mile run. Fouda finished just outside the top-100 in the field over of over 200 runners with a time of 5:13.23. Edie Sharon (5.23.18), Sonja Cwik (5:36.08) and Isabella King (5:36.42) also competed in the 1-mile event. Sharon's mark represented a personal record.

Senior Taylor Bickford then continued the Blue's run of ECAC qualifiers with a personal record time of 10:24.46 in the 3000 meter run. 

In the long jump, first year Abena Asare delivered a 5.14m performance. She then went on to finish 27th in the Triple Jump with a score of 10.60m. 

Wellesley track & field will now turn its focus to Saturday's New England Division III Championships. Competition is scheduled to begin at 9:00 am at Smith College.
