CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Wellesley College track & field racked up 24 points in the team competition to earn 14th place at the New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at MIT's Henry G. Steinbrenner Track.

Aided by ten points from first year Abena Asare's (Berlin, N.J.) first place performance in the Long Jump on Friday night, Wellesley went on to add 14 more points to their team total on Saturday.

Senior Taylor Bickford (Limington, Maine) ran to a third place finish in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 11:13.40, as the 2015 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Champion earned six points for the Blue.

Wellesley's 4 x 100m relay team of Kathleen Hanlon (Paradise Valley, Ariz.), Isabella Narvaez (Greenwich, Conn.), Kendra Waters (Stratham, N.H.), and Asare also combined to earn Wellesley six points in the event, trailing only teams from WPI (48.05) and host MIT (48.30) with a combined time of 48.54.

The Blue would get the better of WPI in the 4 x 800 relay, as Isabella King (Cincinnati, Ohio), Alexandra Dunn (Montpelier, Vt.), Taylor Fortnam (Portola Valley, Calif.), and Sharon Ng (Sunnyvale, Calif.) edged out their NEWMAC foes to finish in eighth place and earn the last point available in the event.

Individually, Waters also took eighth place in the 400m Dash, scoring the Blue a point with a time of 59.58.

Wellesley track & field will return to MIT, for the third consecutive weekend, next Saturday and Sunday for NEICAAA Championships.
