Ng Earns All-New England Honors in 1500m at NEICAAA Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Wellesley College track & field wrapped up competition at the NEICAAA Championships on Saturday at Southern Connecticut State University. The Blue added five more points to their team total on day two, as senior Sharon Ng (Sunnyvale, Calif.) earned All-New England accolades in the 1500m run.

Wellesley finished in 17th place overall with 20 points. Division I Northeastern University took the team title with 140 points, while MIT was the top finisher among DIII schools with 46 points (5th place).

Ng ran to a time of 4:37.87 in the 1500m, taking fourth overall and second among DIII competitors to earn All-New England recognition for her top-eight finish. Ng returned later in the day to run the opening leg of the Blue's 4 x 800m Relay, as the senior combined with classmate Caitlin Bailey (Old Forge, N.Y.), sophomore Isabella King (Cincinnati, Ohio) and junior Mary Keenan (Boerne, Texas) for a ninth place finish with a time 9:37.02. 

Juniors Edie Sharon (Winchester, Mass.) and Sonja Cwik (La Canada, Calif.) were also in action on Saturday in the 3000m Steeplechase. Sharon and Cwik finished in 16th and 18th place, respectively. Sharon clocked in at 11:40.58, while Cwik crossed the line in 11:47.94.

Wellesley track & field will close out the regular season on Wednesday and Thursday, May 18-19, at the ECAC DIII Outdoor Championships at Westfield State University. Competition begins at 1:00 PM on Wednesday.
