Wellesley Track & Field Totals Four Top-10 Finishes at NE DIII Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College track & field totaled four top-ten finishes, including two by senior Isabella Narvaez (Cali, Colombia) on Saturday at the New England Division III Indoor Championships, hosted by MIT. Wellesley was 22nd overall in the team standings with 11 points. 

Narvaez was fourth in both the 200m and the 400m on Saturday. The Wellesley senior opened the day with a time of 59.03 in the 400m, taking fourth overall and fourth in a fast heat. She followed that performance by winning her heat in the 200m with a time of 26.01, again finishing in fourth among all competitors. Narvaez is qualified for both events at next weekends NEICAAA All-New England Championships. 

Senior Sonja Cwik (La Canada, Calif.) continued her string of impressive performances with an eighth place time of 5:15.17 in the Mile. The time was also good for eighth in Cwik's heat. Cwik is also qualified to run in the mile at the NEICAAA Championships. 

Isabella King (Cincinnati, Ohio) added the Blue's fourth top-ten time with a 9th place finish in the 800m. The junior finished first in her heat with a season-best time of 2:25.66. Also in action for the Blue on Saturday, senior Sara Vannah (Amherst, Mass.) was 15th overall and third in her heat with a time of 18:52.83 in the 5000m and senior Edie Sharon (Winchester, Mass.) was 21st in the 3000m with a time of 10:58.41. 

Wellesley track & field will now head to the NEICAAA All-New England Championships, next Friday and Saturday, February 24 and 25, at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston, Mass.
