Blue Track & Field Begins Competition at Emory Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Wellesley College track & field team opened up their outdoor season with a small slate of student-athletes competing in Day One of the Emory Invitational hosted at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Senior Helen Anderson (Madison, N.J) placed 15th out of 59 competitors in the Hammer Throw, with a distance of 37.24m. In the other field event for the Blue, junior Keer Sun (Pine Brook, N.J.) fell just short of a PR in the High Jump with a jump of 1.40m.

On the track side, first year Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine) impressed in her debut race in the 5000m with a time of 18:51.70, which was good for a 9th place finish. Sophomore Grace Cowles set a new PR in the 5000m with a time of 18:55.66, which placed her 11th. The Blue landed another top-10 finish in the 400m Hurdles as senior Cathy Chen (Parsippany, N.J.) crossed the finish line 9th with a time of 1:08.13.

The Blue will compete in day two of the invitational today, March 23, with competition set to begin at 8:00AM and continue throughout the day.
