Whinney, Beauchamp Represent Blue Track & Field on USTFCCCA All-Region Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Wellesley College track & field sophomores Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) and Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) have each received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region recognition. The duo both made the All-Region East Team in the 3000m Steeplechase.
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top three ranked relay team.
Whinney's 3000m Steeplechase time of 10:40.76 is the fastest in the East Region and ranks No. 11 in Division III. She recently won the 3000m Steeplechase event at the NEWMAC Championships and the New England DIII Championships.
Beauchamp recently set a personal-best 3000m Steeplechase time of 10:59.71 at the MIT Final Qualifier. That time is the third fastest in the East Region and 30th in Division III. Beauchamp finished second in the 3000m Steeplechase at the NEWMAC Championships and came in fourth in the event at the NEICAAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Whinney is set to race at this weekend's NCAA Division III Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is a non-profit professional organization representing cross country and track & field coaches of all levels. The organization represents thousands of coaching members encompassing NCAA track & field programs (DI, DII, and DIII) and includes members representing the NAIA and NJCAA, as well as a number of state high school coaches associations. The USTFCCCA serves as an advocate for cross country and track & field coaches, providing a leadership structure to assist the needs of a diverse membership, serving as a lobbyist for coaches' interests, and working as a liaison between the various stakeholders in the sports of cross country and track & field.
