Whinney Represents Blue Track & Field on USTFCCCA All-America Second Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Wellesley College sophomore Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) has earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Second Team All-America honors for her performance in the 3000m Steeplechase at the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships.

Whinney finished 10th in the finals of the 3000m Steeplechase in Myrtle Beach, S.C. with a time of 10:40.09. Her time of 10:37.70 in the prelims broke her own Blue program record in the event. Whinney previously earned All-America status in 2023 by placing eighth overall in the 3000m Steeplechase finals.

Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and as part of a relay team at the 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships earned First-Team All-America honors. Those who finished ninth through 16th individually and ninth through 12th as part of a relay team were named Second-Team All-America.

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is a non-profit professional organization representing cross country and track & field coaches of all levels. The organization represents thousands of coaching members encompassing NCAA track & field programs (DI, DII, and DIII) and includes members representing the NAIA and NJCAA, as well as a number of state high school coaches associations. The USTFCCCA serves as an advocate for cross country and track & field coaches, providing a leadership structure to assist the needs of a diverse membership, serving as a lobbyist for coaches' interests, and working as a liaison between the various stakeholders in the sports of cross country and track & field.
