Five Players and Coach Dorothy Webb Named to NEWMAC 25th Year All-Volleyball Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. - The New England Men's and Women's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced their 25-Year All-NEWMAC Volleyball on Thursday. Among the selections were former Wellesley student-athletes Allison Schnitzer (1996-2000), Ali Mostue (1999-2003), Isabel Custodio (2009-2013), Sydney Carfagno (2011-2015), Yasmine Reece (2015-2019), and coach Dorothy Webb (1993-present). 

Allison Schnitzer is a member of the Wellesley College Athletics Hall of Fame, inducted in 2014. Schnitzer was an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National All-American Second Team member in 1997, 1998, and 1999. Schnitzer was also a four-time AVCA Regional All-American, a four-time member of the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) All-New England First Team, the 1996 NEWVA Rookie of the Year, the 1999 NEWVA Player of the Year, a four-time NEWMAC All-First Team member, and a two-time NEWMAC Player of the Year (1997, 1999). Schnitzer was part of a Wellesley volleyball team that won two NEW-8 and two NEWMAC Championships, played in three NCAA Division III National Volleyball Tournaments, and was the third place team nationally in 1998 with a record of 37-1. 

Ali Mostue is a member of the Wellesley College Athletics Hall of Fame, inducted in 2020. Mostue was an AVCA National All-American Second Team member in 2001 and 2002. Mostue was also a three-time AVCA Regional All-American, the 1999 AVCA Regional Rookie of the Year, a member of the 2001 NEWVA All-New England First Team, a three-time NEWMAC All-First Team member, the 1999 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year, and a two-time NEWMAC Player of the Year (2001, 2002). Mostue was part of a Wellesley volleyball team that won four NEWMAC Championships, made three NCAA Division III National Volleyball Tournament quarterfinals, and was the 2001 NCAA Division III National Volleyball Tournament fourth place team.

Isabel Custodio was a 2012 AVCA National All-American honorable mention. Custodio was also a two-time AVCA Regional All-American, a 2012 member of the NEWVA All-New England First Team, a 2012 NEWVA Senior All-Star, a three-time NEWMAC All-Conference First Team member, and the 2009 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year. Custodio was part of a Wellesley volleyball team that won the 2009 NEWMAC Championship, was a two-time NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament qualifier, and made the Regional Semifinals of the 2009 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament.

Sydney Carfagno was a member of the 2013 AVCA National All-American Third Team. Carfagno was also a four-time AVCA Regional All-American, the 2011 AVCA Regional Rookie of the Year, a two-time NEWVA All-New England First Team member, a 2014 NEWVA Senior All-Star, a four-time NEWMAC All-Conference First Team member, and the 2011 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year. Carfagno was part of a Wellesley volleyball team that qualified for the 2013 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament. 

Yasmine Reece was a 2015 AVCA National All-American honorable mention. Reece was also the 2015 AVCA Regional Rookie of the Year and AVCA Regional All-American, a member of the 2015 NEWVA All-New England Second Team, a four-time NEWMAC All-Conference First Team member, and the 2015 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year. Reece was part of a Wellesley volleyball team that qualified for two NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournaments and made the Regional Semifinals of the 2018 NCAA Division III Volleyball Tournament.

Dorothy Webb ranks among the all-time winningest coaches in NCAA Division III history in both overall victories and winning percentage. Webb has won 648 career games with the Blue, while winning three NEW-8 Championships, seven NEWMAC Championships, and winning the 1995 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships. Webb has qualified for 12 NCAA Division III National Volleyball Tournaments, winning five regional championships, making the national semifinals on five occasions, and the national semifinals in 1998 (3rd place) and 2001 (4th place).

The NEWMAC 25-Year All-NEWMAC Teams are a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the NEWMAC athletic conference. The NEWMAC was formed in 1998, when the former New England Women's 8 Conference (NEW 8) voted to begin sponsoring conference play and championships for men.
