Blue Place 10th at NCAA Regional
CUMBERLAND, Maine – The Wellesley
College cross country team raced to a 10th-place finish at the NCAA
Division III New England Regional hosted by the University of
Southern Maine on Saturday morning. The Blue's
Randelle Boots (Seekonk, MA) led the way for
Wellesley with an All-Region performance.
Boots added to her already spectacular rookie year with a 19th
place finish out of 315 competitors. The first-year covered the 6K
course in a time of 22:21, earning her the first All-New England
honors for Wellesley since 2005.
Overall, Wellesley placed all five scoring runners in the top-100,
improving on last year's 17th-place finish, in which the fastest
Blue runner placed 97th.
After Boots, first-year Claire Cummings
(Norway, ME) took 51st overall with a time of 23:15.6 while senior
Clare Egan (Stuart, FL) took 60th in 23:27.7.
Junior Eliza Tibbits (Old Town, ME) was the next
Blue runner to cross the finish line with a time of 23:57.6, good
for 75th place. First-year Camille Basurto (Wilton, CT) wrapped up
the Wellesley scorers with a 96th-place finish in 24:21.1.
Also competing for Wellesley, Cailey Stevens
(Kodiak, AK) finished 117th in a time of 24:54.3 while
Evelyn Haro (Sylmar, CA) placed 163rd in a time of
25:42.8.
