Leah Clement named NEWMAC Runner of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass.- Wellesley College junior Leah Clement was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period ending October 24,2010.

Clement took home the individual title at the 2010 Wellesley Invitational. The junior posted a time of 19:17, the fastest Wellesley Invitational winning time since 2006. Clement eclipsed the field of 35 runners by over a minute. Wellesley swept the top five scoring spots at the event to earn a perfect score (15) and a first place finish.

This is the second NEWMAC weekly honor for Clement, as she previously won the award on October 3rd, after taking third at the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College.

Clement will lead the Wellesley cross country team in the NEWMAC Championships held at Clark on Saturday October 30.
