Clement Named NEWMAC Runner of the Week

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Wellesley College senior Leah Clement was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period ending September 4th, 2011.

Clement won the individual title at the Fens Classic, leading the Blue to a team victory at event which was hosted by Emmanuel College. Her time of 11:59.50 shattered the course record which previously stood at 13:13:06. The unconventional two-mile course featured winding trails along the Muddy River, through the Fens and ended with a lap of the track circling Roberto Clemente Field.

Clement paced a pack of Wellesley runners that landed seven top-ten finishers to seal the team title. 

The Wellesley cross country team is back in action on Saturday at 11:00am, competing in the Smith Invitational.
