Clement Named NEWMAC Runner of the Week

BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Wellesley College senior Leah Clement was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Cross Country Runner of the Week for the period ending October 2, 2011.

Clement led Wellesley to a third-place team finish at the Bowdoin Invitational, as the Blue placed behind only nationally-ranked MIT and regionally-ranked Bowdoin. The senior took second overall in a 121 runner field. Clement's time of 22:42.65, shaved nearly two minutes off of her 6k personal best, and was just four seconds off the winner, Molly Carl of Southern Maine.

This is the second weekly award for Clement, who also earned the honor on September 4th.

Wellesley cross country returns to action next Saturday, October 8, at 11am at Franklin Park, where they will compete in the New England Intercollegiate Championships.
