Blue Runners Race at New England Intercollegiate Championship

Boston, Mass. -- With most of the Wellesley cross country team taking a weekend off in preparation for next week's Seven Sisters Championship, the Blue sent just three runners to the New England Intercollegiate Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon.

The event, hosted at Franklin Park in Boston, featured Division I, II and III colleges and universities from the six New England states. All three of Wellesley's entries competed in the sub-varsity race, while finishing in the top half of the 341-runner field.

Senior Molly Shanley led the way with a 57th place time of 20:02. Sophomore Skye Roberts was the next Blue finisher, taking 125th in a time of 20:46, shaving over a minute off of her personal best at the course. Rounding out the Wellesley field, Margaret Wehner finished in 164th place in a time of 21:17.

Wellesley cross country now gears up for the 2011 Seven Sisters Championship. The event will take place on Saturday at 10:00am at Bryn Mawr.
