Ng Representing US Badminton at Universiade in Russia

KAZAN, Russia -- Wellesley College cross country and track and field student-athlete, Sharon Ng, is currently in Kazan, Russia, competing for the United States at the World University Games in the sport of badminton.

Ng, a rising sophomore, represents the US after finishing second at the US Collegiate Badminton Championships this March.

The World University Games, or the "Universiade," is an International multi-sport event, organized for university athletes by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). The name is a combination of the words "University" and "Olympiad".  The event has been held in some form since 1924 and the 2013 version is taking place in Kazan Russia.

A member of both the track and field and cross country teams for the Blue, Ng was an All-Region performer in track this spring and was a part of Wellesley's record setting 4x800m relay team.
