Fouda, Keenan Finish 1-2 as No. 22 Cross Country Wins Roger Williams Invite

BRISTOL, R.I. – Senior Priyanka Fouda (Wellesley, Mass.) finished first in 19:10.59 and junior Mary Keenan (Boerne, Texas) followed in second, with a time of 19:10.86, to lead No. 22 Wellesley College cross country to victory in the Roger Williams Invitational on Saturday morning at Colt State Park. 

Five Wellesley runners finished in the top-ten to help the Blue secure the team title with a low score of 29. Brandeis University (40) took second, followed by Salve Regina (138), Bridgewater St. (160) and Emmanuel (169).

First year Mary Naas (St. Paul, Minn.) took seventh in her first collegiate event, completing the course in 19:48.21. Senior Sharon Ng(Sunnyvale, Calif.) and junior Sonja Cwik (La Canada, Calif.) rounded out the top-ten, with Ng finishing in ninth in 19:52.76 and Cwik taking tenth with a time of 20:08.67. 

Four more Blue runners finished in the top-20, as first year Samantha Muller (For Collins, Colo.) took 14th with a time of 20:17.56, junior Edie Sharon (Winchester, Mass.) finished 15th in 20:18.14, senior Carolyn Chelius (Haddonfield, N.J.) crossed the line in 16th in 20:21.92 and sophomore Isabella King (Cincinnati, Ohio) grabbed 20th place in 20:35.90. 

Wellesley cross country returns in two weeks when the Blue head to Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine for the Bates College Invitational.
