Six from Blue Cross Country Named to NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. – The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2015 NEWMAC Women's Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team on Tuesday morning and six members of the Wellesley College cross country team have been named to the squad.

Seniors Carolyn Chelius (Haddonfield, N.J.) and Sharon Ng (Sunnyvale, Calif.), junior Alice Zhou (Sunnyvale, Calif.) and sophomores Taylor Fortnam (Portola Valley, Calif.), Isabella King (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Clare Salerno (Johnson, Vt.) have all earned recognition. This is the third consecutive year that Chelius has earned Academic All-Conference honors, while Zhou has now earned the honor in back-to-back years. This is the first Academic All-Conference recognition for Ng, Fortnum, King, and Salerno. 

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2015 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season. Click here for a complete list of winners.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
