Wellesley's Cowles Named NEWMAC Cross Country Runner of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College junior Grace Cowles (Yarmouth, Maine) has been named the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending September 15, 2019.

Cowles was the top finisher for the Blue as Wellesley captured the Women's 5K title at the UNE Invitational on Saturday. The Blue placed seven of the top-ten runners in the field as Cowles finished with a collegiate 5K PR of 19:07.8 to earn individual runner-up honors. A 2019 track & field All-American in the steeplechase, Cowles will be recognized for her accomplishments last spring at halftime of the Blue soccer game on Saturday, September 28, versus Mount Holyoke. 

The Blue cross country team returns to competition next Saturday, September 21, at the Bowdoin Invitational.
