Blue Cross Country Earns Nine NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors

WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2020-21 Women's Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team. A total of 79 student-athletes were selected, including nine from the Wellesley College cross country program.

April Chu '21 (Freemont, Calif.) and Blythe Logan (New York, N.Y.) each earned Academic All-Conference honors for the third time in three years for the Blue. Chu graduated this fall with a degree in Media Arts and Sciences and Logan is an Economics and History major. Juniors Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine), an Economics and Political Science major, and Amy Tao (Hong Kong, China), a Chemistry and Mathematics major, each earned the honor for a second time.

Juniors Grace Heizer (Portland, Ore.) and Ari Marks (Eagle Point, Ore.) were named to the squad for the first time, along with sophomores Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.), Ellie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) and Bethany Pasko (Wellesley, Mass.). Heizer is studying International Relations and Marks is a Political Science major, while Anderson is a Psychology major. Murphy-Weise and Pasko are both undeclared majors at this time.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2020 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire semester.

The Blue cross country team did not compete this fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic but members of the team were able to train on campus.


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
