Field Hockey Lands Four on NFHCA All-Region Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Following the program's third-consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals, Wellesley College field hockey has earned four selections to the 2015 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III New England East All-Region Team.

Senior Anissa Sridhar (London, Ontario, Canada) and junior Courtney Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.) have each been named to the New England East Region first team, while senior Hannah Flesch (Rockville, Md.) and sophomore Emmy Hamilton (New York, N.Y.) have earned second team recognition.

All four players also earned New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) All-Conference honors on November 10th, as Flesch earned her fourth-straight award, Sridhar was garnered her third and Peterson and Hamilton were recognized for the first time in their respective careers. 

The first team All-Region selection is the second-consecutive honor for Sridhar, the Blue's leading scorer with 14 goals and seven assists in 21 games this season. The senior forward finishes her career as a three-time All-Region selection, as she was also a second team All-Region honoree in 2013.

Peterson earns her first All-Region recognition in her third season in Blue, after finishing second on the squad with 12 goals, while also adding five assists and a team-best two defensive saves. The Blue's first team duo also accounted for nine game-winning goals this year, with Sridhar netting five and Peterson adding four. 

Flesch lands on the All-Region second team for the third-consecutive year, after tallying 11 goals and a pair of assists this season. Flesch scored three game-winning goals this season while splitting time between the forward and midfield positions.

Hamilton earns her first All-Region award following her first All-Conference recognition. The leader of the Blue's stingy defensive unit, Wellesley's sweeper also added a goal and an assist this year.

Wellesley concluded the 2015 season with a 17-4 record and a 7-1 mark in NEWMAC regular season play. The Blue advanced to the championship round of the NEWMAC tournament, finishing as tournament runner-up, before earning a first round bye and the program's third-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. Wellesley defeated the University of New England, 3-0, in the second round before falling to eventual national runner-up Bowdoin College, 3-0, in the quarterfinals.

The 2015 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Regional Players of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, December 2nd. The 2015 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-American Teams will be announced on Monday, December 7th.  The 2015 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III National Player of the Year will be announced on Wednesday, December 9th.
