Crew Opens Season with 2nd Place Finish at Textile River
LOWELL, Mass. -- The Wellesley College crew team opened the 2010-11 season with a second place finish from the varsity eight at the 31st annual Textile River Regatta on Sunday.
Despite a ten second penalty for missing a buoy, the Blue's first varsity eight finished second place overall on the Merrimac River course. Wellesley's time of 21:07 bested 17 boats in the event, ranking behind only the University of Vermont.
Wellesley also had solid finishes from the second and third varsity boats. The 2V took eighth place overall in a time of 22:08, while the 3V finished 14th in 23:47.
In the novice race, Wellesley's first boat took third, while the second boat ranked fifth out of nine competitors.
Blue crew returns to the water on October 9th competing in the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta in Worcester, MA.
