Blue Crew Finishes Second at Quinsigamond Snake

WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Wellesley College crew team completed a successful morning of racing with a second place finish at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Saturday.  

Competing in a 24-boat race, Wellesley's first varsity recorded an overall time of 17:14.59.  The Blue finished behind only Bates College, who notched a time of 17:04.86.  This is the second week in a row that the Blue's varsity eight finished second in a large race.

Wellesley's second and third varsity boats also rowed well at the event. The 2V took eighth place in a time of 18:32, while the 3V finished 14th in 20:03.51. 

The Blue entered two novice boats in the race, with the crews recorded 20th (22:29.32) and 22nd (23:37.40) overall. 

Wellesley next rows at the 46th-Annual Head of the Charles Regatta on October 23rd and 24th.  The Blue will enter a four and an eight in the prestigious event, with the four competing on Saturday at 4:00pm and the eight racing on Sunday at 2:20pm.  

This year, the Blue will be hosting an alumnae gathering for all alum, family and friends at Reunion Village (just past the Weeks Bridge.)  Reunion Village is open on Saturday from 8:00am to 5:00pm and on Sunday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Admission is $3 per person (or two for $5) for unlimited day access.
