CREW WINS SEVEN SISTERS!!!

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (Oct. 30, 2010) – For the second season in a row, Wellesley College secured top honors at the annual Seven Sisters Championship Regatta. The Blue piled up 34 points en route to their third overall title. This season's event was hosted by Mount Holyoke College on the Connecticut River.

Rounding out the five team field were Simmons College (28), Smith College (26), Mount Holyoke (24) and Bryn Mawr (9).

Wellesley was paced by Hannah Woodruff, Casey Sedlack and Jennifer Lamy, who were all selected to the All-Regatta Team. The trio was joined by Audrey Purcell (Simmons), Anna Rowse (Simmons), Katharine Von Herrmann (Smith), Kaitlyn Konzen (Smith), Cleo Schneider (Mount Holyoke) and Caitlin Schickel (Bryn Mawr).

The Blue grabbed top honors in the first varsity eight race with a time of 14:09.41. They were followed by Mount Holyoke (14:20.98), Smith (14:22.75), Simmons (14:37.61) and Bryn Mawr (15:56.49).

Smith's time of 14:53.52 was good for first place in the second varsity race. The Pioneers finished ahead of Wellesley (15:04.50), Mount Holyoke (15:13.83) and Simmons (17:35.43).

In the first novice eight race, Simmons (15:20.80), Wellesley (15:44.79) and Mount Holyoke (16:00.24) made up the top three.
 
The second varsity eight race played out similarly, as the order of finish was Simmons (16:23.04), Wellesley (16:31.52) and Smith (17:24.86) in the top three spots.
 

The Lyons have now completed the fall portion of their 2010-11 slate. They will resume their schedule in the spring.
