Blue Crew Ranked No. 2 in Pocock/CRCA Preseason Coaches Poll

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Following a program-best second place finish this fall at the 55th Head Of The Charles Regatta, Wellesley College crew will enter the 2020 season ranked second in the nation according to the Pocock/CRCA Division III Preseason Coaches Poll, presented by USRowing.

The Blue had two entries in the Women's Collegiate Eights for the fifth consecutive year at the Head Of The Charles. Wellesley's Varsity Eight Crew, finished with a time of 16:47.200 to finish second. Only defending national champion Bates (16:26.595) finished with a faster time. The Bobcats were also selected as the preseason No. 1 in the CRCA Preseason Coaches Poll, with New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) rival WPI occupying the No. 3 spot. 

Wellesley has finished in the top-four in every NCAA Division III Championship since 2011 and in the top-three in each of the last five years. The Blue will be looking to continue that streak this year when the NCAA Rowing Championships take place May 29-30, 2020 in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Wellesley's 2020 spring season begins on Saturday, April 4, when the Blue will match-up with No. 9 Williams, No. 15 Williams Smith, and the MIT Lightweight rowing team on the Charles River in Boston. 


The CRCA exists to unify collegiate women's rowing coaches, to act as a collective voice, and to inform collegiate women's rowing coaches on issues related to rowing.
