Blue Crew Earns Nine NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors
WESTWOOD, Mass. -- The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2020 Rowing Academic All-Conference Team. A total of 99 student-athletes were honored, including nine from the Wellesley College crew team.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2019 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Leading the way for Wellesley are seniors Rhiannon Mulligan '20 (Santa Cruz, Calif.) and Emmet Odegaard '20 (San Francisco, Calif.), who each earned the honor for the third time in as many seasons at Wellesley. In addition, Wellesley had five sophomores earn the honor for the first time in their careers. Wellesley crew earned a program-best second place finsish at the 2019 Head Of The Charles Regatta and was ranked No. 2 nationally in the first CRCA Division III Coaches Poll for the 2020 spring season.
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
