Blue Crew Wins Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Races at Washington College Invitational

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Wellesley College crew started the spring season by winning the Varsity Eight (V8+) and Second Varsity Eight (2V8+) events at the Washington College Invitational.

In the Varsity Eight event, Wellesley's V8+ (Wellesley "A") and 2V8+ (Wellesley "B") both earned victories. The "A" boat had a time of 6:10.28 in the first race to defeat Stockton and Pacific Lutheran. The "B" boat stroked a time of 6:19.10 to win against Bryn Mawr and Washington College.

In the second round, the "A" boat won by nearly 15 seconds with a time of 6:33.20. The "B" boat also claimed first place in its second round race with a time of 6:23.57.

In the Second Varsity Eight event, Blue Crew's Third Varsity Eight (3V8+) and Fourth Varsity Eight (4V8+) both found success. The 3V8+ captured first by two seconds with a winning time of 6:20.25. The 4V8+ took third out of six boats with a time of 6:35.22.

Next up, Wellesley races against MIT and Boston University at the Charles River on Saturday, March 30.
