Blue Crew's Barth, Duggan Cap Careers With Pocock/CRCA All-America Honors

The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) has announced its 2017 Pocock Division III All-America teams and Wellesley College crew has earned a pair of selections for the second consecutive year. Senior Kathryn Barth (Bellevue, Wash.) was selected to the All-America first team, while classmate Olivia Duggan (West Newbury, Mass.) earned a spot on the second team.

Wellesley College crew earned the bronze in the varsity eight and the silver in the second varsity eight to take third overall at the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships at Lake Mercer. Bates College earned the team national championship for the second time in three years thanks to their combined point total from the two events.

Defending NCAA Champion Wellesley College crew advanced both boats to Saturday's Grand Finals on the opening day of the 2017 NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championships on Friday at Lake Mercer. The Blue's Second Varsity Eight cruised to an open water victory to advance to the final, while Wellesley's Varsity Eight was the runner-up in their opening opening heat to earn a spot.

This year's championships will be hosted by The Ivy League and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Blue Crew Wins Bronze In 2V8, 3V8 At National Invitational Rowing Championships

No. 6 Wellesley College crews's varsity eight took fourth place, while the second and third varsity each won bronze, and the novice eight took home gold, on Friday at the National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester. Returning to Lake Quinsigamond for the third-straight week of competition, Wellesley placed all four boats in the grand finals and tied for first in the overall women's points trophy standings.

No. 4 Wellesley College crew faced a good test on the team’s third weekend of racing during the spring season, competing against Bates College and Wesleyan University, the co-top ranked crews in the most recent CRCA/USRowing Coaches Poll, and host No. 6 Tufts on the Malden River. The Blue took part in a series of double duals in their final competition before the NEWMAC Championships.

With near ideal conditions on Lake Quinsigamond, No. 4 Wellesley College crew took to the water against three nationally ranked opponents in Tied-No. 1 Bates, No. 9 WPI, and No. 13 Trinity (Conn.) on Sunday. The Blue earned first place finishes in both the 3rd Varsity 8 and 4th Varsity 8 races, and were the runner-up to Bates in both the Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8.

Senior captains Olivia Duggan (West Newbury, Mass.) and Ali Rondeau (Ocala, Fla.) and junior Lauren Bazley (Issaquah, Wash.) shared their thoughts on the once in a lifetime experience.
