WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) has announced its Scholar Athlete awards for the 2020 season and nine members of the Wellesley College crew team have been recognized for their academic achievement in 2019-2020.

Previously, CRCA Scholar Athletes were required to race in an NCAA boat for 75% of the season or at the conference championships. However, Scholar Athlete Awards requirements have been modified for the 2020 season. Student athletes must be in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of eligibility, must be ranked performance-wise in the top 50% of their team, or in the "NCAA Squad" at the conclusion of the 2020 season, and must have a 3.50 cumulative GPA or higher for their career, and through the fall semester or quarter for the current competition year. The following Wellesley student-athletes earned the honor:

The recognition is the third in as many seasons for Mulligan, a Political Science & Economics major, while Iannotti, a Biological Sciences & English major, and Dingivan, an Environmental Studies & Spanish major, earned the honor for the second time.

Odegaard, a Latin American Studies & Women & Gender Studies major, Bolan, a Women & Gender Studies major, Fan, an Art History & Economics major, Gorman, a Women & Gender Studies major, Krishna, a French major, and Sokolowska, an International Relations & Political Science major, each earned the honor for the first time. The same group of nine athletes also earned NEWMAC Academic All-Conference accolades this spring.

Wellesley Athletics strives for excellence at the conference, regional, and national levels, while providing opportunities for students to achieve their potential and learn the values of discipline, leadership, critical thinking, and responsibility to oneself and others.
