Recent Wellesley College crew graduate Anneka Hallstrom (Ann Arbor, Mich.) has been named the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division III Athlete of the Year. This is the second time a member of Blue Crew has earned the award after Katie Ball '22 won the inaugural award in 2022.

The NEWMAC released the Rowing 25 Year All-NEWMAC Team in recognition of the historic 25th Anniversary season. A total of 18 student-athletes have been recognized from the last 25 years, including current head Tessa Spillane, former Wellesley College crew rowers Becca Kimball '14, Meg Roberts '16, Kathryn Barth '17, Kelsey Campbell '18, and Katie Ball '22, and former coxswains Stephanie Kim '18 and Sydney Stento '18. The honored team was voted on by the NEWMAC membership.

Recent Wellesley College crew graduate Anneka Hallstrom (Ann Arbor, Mich.) was named a Division III Athlete of the Year Finalist by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) on Thursday. Hallstrom was one of three Division III Finalists along with recent Colby College graduate Tori Richards (South Yarmouth, Mass.), and Ithaca College graduate Allison Arndt (Lewisburg, Pa.).

The National Intercollegiate Rowing Championship (NIRC) announced the recipients of the regatta's postseason awards and Wellesley College's Tessa Spillane was voted the Women's Coach of the Year.

Wellesley College crew head coach Tessa Spillane has been named the 2023 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Division III National and New England Regional Coach of the Year. In addition, Spillane, associate head coach Emilie Muller and assistant coach Emilia Ball '19 have been named the 2023 National and New England Regional Coaching Staff of the Year.

Wellesley College crew senior Cora Barrett (Tewksbury, Mass.) was named the NCAA Elite 90 winner for Division III Rowing on Saturday. The award was presented at the 2023 NCAA Division III Rowing Championships in Pennsauken, N.J. on Saturday. Barrett, a Physics and Mathematics major, is the first winner of the Elite 90 award in Wellesley Athletics history.

Blue Crew Wins 2023 NCAA DIII Rowing National Championship

May 27, 2023

Wellesley College crew won the 2023 NCAA Division III National Championship on Saturday on the Cooper River. With the team victory, Wellesley captured back-to-back NCAA National Championships for the first time in program history while winning the program’s third NCAA title (2016). The Blue are now one of only three schools to earn at least three NCAA Division III Rowing Championships. It is also the first time a team has won the NCAA Division III Rowing Championships in back-to-back years since Bates won in 2018 and 2019. Wellesley has finished in the top three nationally every year since 2015, with the exception of 2020 and 2021 when the Blue did not compete due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Blue Crew Advances Both Boats to Grand Finals at NCAA Championships

May 26, 2023

The Wellesley College crew varsity eight (V8+) and second varsity eight (2V8+) each finished first in their qualifying heats on Friday morning to advance to the Grand Finals at the 2023 NCAA DIII National Championships on the Cooper River. Blue Crew will now compete for the NCAA National Championship tomorrow morning, Saturday May 27, beginning with the 2V8+ Grand Final at 10:48 AM. The V8+ Grand Final will take place at 11:36 AM. Wellesley will be seeking to win the program’s second consecutive and third overall NCAA National Championship on Saturday.

The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the Academic All-District At-Large Team on Tuesday. Among the recipients of the award were Wellesley College crew seniors Cora Barrett (Tewksbury, Mass.), Gaya Krishna (Houston, Texas), and Cricket Liebermann (East Montpelier, Vt.). The award is given to athletes who in addition to being impactful on their respective team, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, and have achieved second year status at their academic institution.

On Thursday, the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its 2023 Spring All-Sportsmanship Team. Seniors Gaya Krishna (Houston, Texas), Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.), juniors Elli DeCleene (North Reading, Mass.), Melinda Alviar (Indianapolis, Ind.) and first year Chloe Guntrip (Irvine, Calif.) represented the Blue on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
