Fourteen From Swimming & Diving Named to NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Squad

WESTWOOD, Mass. -- The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2021-22 Swimming & Diving Academic All-Conference Team. A total of 115 student-athletes were honored, including 14 from the Wellesley College swimming & diving team which sets a new program record.

Two seniors, Alexandra Bullen-Smith (Lawrenceville, N.J.) and Emery Dutton (Wayland, Mass.), each earned a spot on the list for the third consecutive year. Bullen-Smith is pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Mathematics while Dutton is focusing on Anthropology and Biological Sciences. Classmate Marisa Papagelis (Westborough, Mass.), a Data Science and Economics major, earned the honor for the second time. Fellow senior Grace Bronstone (Truckee, Calif.) made her way onto the squad for the first time and is looking to graduate with a degree in Neuroscience.

A pair of juniors made the list for the second time including Claire Moreland (San Francisco, Calif.) and Elizabeth Park (Dix Hills, N.Y.). Moreland is studying Architecture and Park is an Art History major. Classmates Lydia Choi (Seoul, South Korea) and Lily Duff (Scituate, Mass.) both collect the honor for the first time. Choi is an Economics major and Duff is studying Psychology.

Making the list for the first time is sophomores Alice Johnson (Seattle, Wash.), Mona Li (Cary, N.C.), Eugenia Ma (Princeton, N.J.), Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Co.), Alyssa Senneff (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), and Mira Tang (Mercer Island, Wash.). Johnson is focusing on Anthropology, Mitsuoka is a Media Arts and Sciences major, Senneff is studying Biological Sciences and Political Science, Tang is a Neuroscience major, and Li and Ma are both undeclared.

Selections must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2021 fall season, achieved second year academic status at their institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire semester

The Blue are slated to compete in the NEWMAC Championships on Thursday evening, February 17, with finals at 4:00 PM and continues Friday-Sunday, February 18-20. Preliminary competition will take place at 10:00 AM and will be followed by finals at 6:00 PM each day.


The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
