Wellesley Swimming and Diving Conquers Mount Holyoke, 166-112

HOLYOKE, Mass. - Wellesley College swimming and diving earned their second straight victory with a 166-112 win over Mount Holyoke on Saturday.

Sophomores Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Angela Zhu (Bayside, N.Y.) and first years Tracey Liu (Princeton, N.J.) and Kavita Sekhon (Los Angeles, Calif.) each won multiple events for the Blue (2-1) while junior Maddy Sewell (Scottsdale, Ariz.) won both diving events for the Lyons (2-2).

The Blue opened their day with a win in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:53.20 from junior Alice Johnson (Seattle, Wash.), Cai, Liu, and first year Lara Dashti (Kuwait). The Blue followed up their win with a second straight victory in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a winning time of 12:03.78 from first year Julia Reich (Bronxville, N.Y.). Junior McKaela Glanville (Menlo Park, Calif.) made it three for three for Wellesley, winning the 200 Yard Freestyle by swimming a 2:00.93. 

Liu won the 100 Yard Backstroke and Sekhon took the 100 Yard Breaststroke to add to the Blues lead. Cai picked up her second win of the day with a 2:12.21 in the 200 Yard Fly. Zhu made it seven straight events for Wellesley when she earned a win in the 50 Yard Freestyle (Bayside, N.Y.)

The Lyons won 1-meter diving, with junior Maddy Sewell (Scottsdale, Ariz.) scoring a 258.95. Junior Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Colo.) took a win for Wellesley with a time of 54.46 in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Liu earned a third win in the 200 Yard Backstroke while Sekhon won her second of the day in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. 

Sophomore Julia Lucey (Old Greenwich, Conn.) snagged the 500 yard Freestyle win for Wellesley and Zhu grabbed a second win of the day in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Sewell won the 3-meter diving event for Mount Holyoke with a score of 258.55.

Sekhon had the leading time in the 200 Yard IM time trials, swimming a 2:18.83. The Lyons finished the day off by winning the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.

The Blue travel to Cambridge, Mass. Friday, December 2 for the MIT Invitational. That same day the Lyons will swim at the Don Richards Invitational in Rochester, N.Y.
