Blue Swimming and Diving to Compete in NEWMAC Championships

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Wellesley College swimming & diving is set to compete in the 2023 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships this weekend at WPI's Sports and Recreation Center in Worcester, Mass.

Heading into the NEWMAC Championships the Blue sport a 4-3 dual meet record in addition to a first place finish at the Sisters Invitational. First year Kavita Sekhon (Los Angeles, Calif.) has set three program records this season in the 50, 100, and 200 Yard Breaststroke. All three records were broken at the MIT Invitational in December, with Sekhon earning a NCAA "B" cut in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. The Blue's 200 Yard Medley Relay team of first year Tracey Liu (Princeton, N.J.), Sekhon, Aubrey Cantrell (Palo Alto, Calif.), and junior Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Colo.) also earned a "B" cut at the MIT Invitational. Sekhon and sophomore Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.) have each earned NEWMAC Swimmer of the Week honors, first year Elsa Marsden (Vienna, Va.) picked up a NEWMAC Diver of the Week award, and the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay team and 200 Yard Medley Relay teams have each won NEWMAC Relay of the Week. The Blue finished sixth at the 2022 NEWMAC Championship hosted by MIT.

Competition begins on Thursday evening, February 16, with finals at 4:00 PM and continues Friday-Sunday, February 17-19. Preliminary competition will take place at 10:00 AM and will be followed by finals at 6:00 PM each day. For more information, visit newmacsports.com.
