Wellesley Swim and Dive Begins Competition at NEWMAC Championship

WORCESTER, Mass. - Wellesley College Swimming and diving competed in the 800 Yard Freestyle relay in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at WPI on Thursday evening.

MIT leads the women's competition after day one with 70 points, followed by Wheaton (60), WPI (52), Springfield (52), and then Wellesley and Coast Guard tied with 48.

Wellesley's "A" team consisting of sophomore Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.), first year Aubrey Cantrell (Palo Alto, Calif.), and juniors Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Colo.) and McKaela Glanville (Menlo Park, Calif.) placed fourth in the event with a season-best time of 7:46.03.

The "B" team of sophomore Julia Lucey (Old Greenwich, Conn.), first year Kavita Sekhon (Los Angeles, Calif.), and juniors Alice Johnson (Seattle, Wash.) and Mona Li (Cary, N.C.) finished sixth in the second heat with a time of 8:09.00.

The NEWMAC Championships will continue tomorrow with 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM sessions.
