Wellesley Swimming & Diving in Fourth After Day One of MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Wellesley College swimming & diving is in fourth out of six teams after day one of the MIT Invitational on Friday at Al '51 & Barrie Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool.

Host MIT and Tufts are tied for the lead with a score of 145 after one day of competition. RPI is in third with a score of 140, followed by the Blue (86), Keene State (43), and Simmons (26).

In the 800 Free Relay, the Wellesley "A" team of junior Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.), sophomore Aubrey Cantrell (Palo Alto, Calif.), and seniors Ariana Mitsuoka (Centennial, Colo.), and McKaela Glanville (Menlo Park, Calif.) placed eighth out of 17 teams with a time of 7:54.38. 

The Wellesley "B" team, consisting of first year Chloe Weingarten (Rochester, Minn.), senior Alice Johnson (Seattle, Wash.), and first years Chelsea Park (Long Beach, Calif.) and Joyce Kim (Houston, Texas), finished 12th in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 8:14.15.

In the 1650 Free event, sophomore Emily Richardson (Bedford, N.H.) took 12th with a time of 18:51.49. Weingarten was narrowly behind in 13th with a time of 19:09.63.

Day two of the MIT Invitational will begin tomorrow at 10:00 AM.
