Wellesley Swimming & Diving Opens NEWMAC Championships in the 800 Free Relay

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Wellesley College swimming & diving had two teams compete in the 800 Free Relay on day one of the NEWMAC Championships at MIT's Zesiger Center Pool.

Wellesley's "A" team of first year Joyce Kim (Houston, Texas), sophomore Aubrey Cantrell (Palo Alto, Calif.), junior Cecilia Cai (Palo Alto, Calif.), and senior McKaela Glanville (Menlo Park, Calif.) placed sixth with a time of 7:54.91. 

The "B" squad of first year Chloe Weingarten (Rochester, Minn.), sophomore Emily Richardson (Bedford, N.H.), and seniors Alice Johnson (Seattle, Wash.) and Mona Li (Cary, N.C.) finished in 14th with a time of 8:09.54.

MIT's "A" squad had a winning time of 7:26.22 to earn first place. The Engineers led the team standings after one event with 70 points.

Day two of the NEWMAC Championships begins tomorrow at 10:00 AM.
