Wellesley College tennis has earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors for the second-straight season. In addition, six members of the Blue have garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete status for the 2016-17 season.

First year Sarah Yan (Holmdel, N.J.) clinched the No. 3 singles match with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory to help No. 33 Wellesley College tennis earn a 5-4 victory over No. 40 Swarthmore College on the final day of the 6th Annual Nor’easter Bowl and Wellesley 2016-17 season.

Sophomore Justine Huang (Coto de Caza, Calif.) and first year Sarah Yan (Holmdel, N.J.) each picked up wins in singles play, but No. 33 Wellesley College tennis failed to overcome a 2-1 deficit after doubles in a 6-3 setback to No. 20 Skidmore College as part of the 6th Annual Nor’Easter Bowl and Senior Day on Friday at the Wellesley Outdoor Courts.

Wellesley College tennis defeated Bryn Mawr College, 5-0, in their opening match, but came up short, 4-1, against Vassar College to finish in second place at the 2017 Seven Sisters Tennis Championship on Sunday at Mount Holyoke’s Kendall Outdoor Courts.

After defeating Smith College 4-1 in their opening match, Wellesley College tennis needed a third-set tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles to defeat host Mount Holyoke College, 3-2, on day one of the 2017 Seven Sisters Tennis Championship at Mount Holyoke’s Kendall Field House Courts.

This weekend, Wellesley College tennis will end NCAA Division III Week by competing for the annual Seven Sisters Tennis Championship when they face long-time rivals Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, Smith and Vassar in South Hadley, Mass. With the Blue in search of their first Seven Sisters title in tennis since 2014, today's Division III Week focus is on Carina Chen (Hong Kong), a senior co-captain of the Blue tennis team from Hong Kong.

Blue Tennis Drops 6-3 Final At DII Concordia Irvine (Calif.)

Wellesley College tennis dropped a 6-3 final to Division II Concordia University Irvine on Wednesday at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center in the opening match of their spring schedule and 2017 team training trip to Southern California. The Blue are now 10-3 overall in 2016-17, while Concordia improves to 10-7 on the year.

The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2016 Women's Tennis All-Conference team on Tuesday and six student-athletes from conference runner-up Wellesley College earned a combined seven All-Conference honors. Leading the way for the Blue, first year Sarah Yan (Holmdel, N.J.) had been named the 2016 NEWMAC Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year as well as a first team All-Conference honoree in both singles and doubles.

Top-seeded MIT rallied from a 2-1 deficit following doubles play to defeat second-seeded Wellesley College tennis, 5-3, in the championship match of the 2016 New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Tennis Tournament on Sunday at MIT. The title is MIT’s seventh and earns the program the NEWMAC’s automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division III Tennis Championship in the spring.
