Wellesley Tennis Earns ITA Team Academic Honors, Seven Named Scholar-Athletes

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2018 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes on Tuesday. In all, 735 teams and 4,328 student-athletes across all five divisions of college tennis were honored including the Wellesley College tennis program and seven members of the Blue tennis team.

Wellesley Tennis Lands Three on NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team

Wellesley College tennis junior Justine Huang (Coto de Caza, Calif.), sophomore Selina Peng (Taichung, Taiwan), and first year Lily Chu (Princeton, N.J.) have each been named to the 2018 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Tennis All-Conference second team. Huang and Peng were selected as the top doubles squad on the All-Conference second team, while Chu was selected as the No. 6 singles player. 

Selina Peng rallied to take the second set at No. 2 singles but the match was called before the third set was complete (Barry Millman).
Wellesley Tennis Falls at Babson in NEWMAC Semifinals, 5-2

Trailing 2-1 after doubles, third-seeded Wellesley College tennis rallied in three of the six singles matches but came up just short in a 5-2 setback to second-seeded Babson College in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Tournament semifinal on Tuesday afternoon at the Babson Tennis Center.

Third-seeded Wellesley College tennis took control of the match in doubles, before clinching the victory with wins in the No. 6 and No. 4 singles matches, to defeat sixth-seeded Springfield College, 5-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2018 New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Tennis Championship on Saturday afternoon at the Wellesley Outdoor Courts.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has announced the 2018 NEWMAC Spring Academic All-Conference Teams and a total of 32 Wellesley College student-athletes representing the Blue crew, lacrosse, softball, tennis, and track & field teams have been recognized. 

Junior Justine Huang is now 14-4 in No. 1 singles matches during the 2017-18 season (Miranda Yang '21).
Wellesley Tennis Caps Regular Season with 9-0 Win Over Emerson

Wellesley College tennis swept past visiting Emerson College, 9-0, to close out the 2018 New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season on Tuesday afternoon at the Wellesley College tennis courts. Wellesley ends the regular season with a 13-7 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the NEWMAC.

No. 3 Wellesley College tennis will host No. 6 Springfield College in the quarterfinals of the 2018 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Tennis Championship on Saturday, April 28 at 12:00 PM.

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.-- Wellesley tennis earned a 6-3 victory over Mount Holyoke College in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Mount Holyoke College Tennis Courts. Wellesley improves to 12-7 overall and 5-2 in the NEWMAC while Mount Holyoke drops to 7-10 on their season and 4-3 in conference.

Wellesley College dropped a 9-0 decision to host MIT in New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Tuesday evening at the J.B. Carr Tennis Bubble. MIT improves to 6-0 in conference and 12-1 overall while the Blue slide to 4-2 in the NEWMAC and 11-7 overall.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-- Wellesley College tennis swept Springfield College in a 9-0 victory in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Appleton Courts. Wellesley improves to 11-6 overall and 4-1 in NEWMAC. Springfield drops to 6-6 and 1-4 in conference play.

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College tennis dropped their first New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match of the season in a 6-3 setback against Babson College on Tuesday evening at the Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse. Wellesley is now 10-6 overall and 3-1 in the NEWMAC. Babson improves to 9-2 on their season and 5-0 in conference play.

Paced by a pair of three-set victories in the top two singles matches, Wellesley College tennis defeaeted visiting Wheaton College, 9-0, in a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match on Sunday afternoon at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.

Sophomore Selina Peng earned a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles as part of the Blue sweep (Gil Talbot).
Blue Tennis Blanks Clark 9-0 to Begin Home Stand

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College tennis earned their second New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory of the season with a 9-0 win on Tuesday afternoon against Clark at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse. Wellesley improves to 9-5 overall and 2-0 in conference action. Clark is now 2-6 on their season and 0-1 in the NEWMAC.

Wellesley College tennis junior Justine Huang (Coto de Caza, Calif.) has been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 1, 2018. The award is Huang's second of the season and the third of her collegiate career. 

Sophomore Korina Hernandez has now won six straight matches and is 4-0 playing in the No. 4 position in the Wellesley lineup (Gil Talbot).
Win Streak Snapped as Blue Tennis Falls In Tough 5-4 Final at Cerritos

Wellesley College tennis entered Thursday night’s match against Cerritos College with a perfect 4-0 record on their California road trip but in the end it was the host Falcons that would extend their own winning streak to 18 straight matches with a 5-4 victory over the Blue.
