Cross Country/Track & Field's Brindley Reflects on Marathon Monday at Wellesley

Monday's 120th running of the Boston Marathon also marked the 50th Anniversary of Bobbi Gibb's historic finish as the first woman to run the Marathon in 1966. Wellesley College cross country/track & field senior Laura Brindley (Mercer Island, Wash.) reflected on the meaning Bobbi Gibb, the Scream Tunnel, and competition have for her as a senior.

Wellesley College cross country has been named a 2015 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country All-Academic Team. In addition, seniors Priyanka Fouda (Wellesley, Mass.), junior Sonja Cwik (La Cañada) and seniors Sharon Ng (Sunnyvale, Calif.) and Alessandra Gavin (Annapolis, Md.) have each been named 2015 NCAA Division III All-Academic Individuals.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) has released the Coach of the Year and Team Sportsmanship Award winners for the 2015 women's cross country season. Following a vote of the NEWMAC head cross country coaches, Wellesley College head coach Phil Jennings has been named the 2015 NEWMAC Coach of the Year. In addition, the Blue have been awarded the 2015 Team Sportsmanship Award.

Led by individual champion Priyanka Fouda (Wellesley, Mass.) Wellesley College cross country took the top four spots and seven of the top-ten to win the 2015 Seven Sisters Cross Country Championship, hosted by Bryn Mawr College on Sunday at Haverford College. The title is the second straight for the Blue and the eleventh in program history.
